KTH Learning | Thrive

Targeted Support.
Meaningful Growth.

Thrive is KTH Learning's K–12 social-emotional and behavioral support model, designed to complement a school's existing student-support system. Through structured Tier 2 small-group SEL and Tier 3 individualized support, Thrive helps students strengthen the skills, strategies, relationships, and behaviors that support success in school and beyond.

What Thrive Looks Like at Your School

One School.
One Site-Specific Plan.

Thrive is not dropped into a campus using a one-size-fits-all schedule. KTH Learning works with school leadership and designated student-support personnel to understand the site's priorities, referral processes, schedules, existing supports, and student needs.

Together, we determine the appropriate balance of Tier 2 small-group intervention and Tier 3 individualized support. One campus may need more small-group relationship work; another may need greater individualized behavioral support. The service plan is built around the students and the school—not the other way around.

Students may receive Tier 2, Tier 3, or both when appropriate. Group composition, activities, examples, and facilitation are adapted to the developmental level and needs of participating students.
Two Levels of Targeted Support

Different Needs. Connected Support.

Thrive combines small-group skill development with individualized intervention so schools can respond to different levels of student need within one coordinated model.

Tier 2

Small-Group SEL Intervention

Builds skills. Strengthens connections.

Structured, developmentally appropriate small groups help students learn, practice, reflect on, and apply social-emotional skills in real school situations.

Up to six students per group.
Aligned with Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision-Making.
Groups may be organized around developmental level, identified need, peer dynamics, or other site considerations.
Skills are reinforced through discussion, practice, reflection, and real-world application.

Interventions begin with a minimum eight-week cycle. Continued support may extend beyond eight weeks when progress data and collaborative review indicate that additional intervention is appropriate.

Individualized Behavioral Support

Personalized support. Real progress.

Students with more targeted social-emotional or behavioral needs receive scheduled 1:1 support connected to individualized goals, strategies, and positive replacement behaviors.

Individualized SMART goals developed collaboratively with appropriate school personnel.
Areas may include emotional regulation, engagement, communication, peer interaction, conflict response, impulse control, persistence, problem-solving, accountability, and decision-making.
Strategies are taught, modeled, practiced, and reinforced over time.
Support may continue across multiple intervention cycles or longer when student need warrants it.

Eight weeks is a formal review point—not an automatic discharge date. Next steps are determined collaboratively based on progress, ongoing need, and appropriate school-team input.

Our Approach to Student Behavior

Behavior Communicates a Goal.

Thrive looks beyond the behavior itself. Mentor/Coaches help students build the awareness, regulation strategies, communication skills, relationships, and replacement behaviors they need to respond differently when challenges arise.

The goal is not simply short-term compliance. It is helping students develop usable skills they can carry back into classrooms, peer interactions, decision-making, and everyday life.

Understand the need. Build the skill. Practice the response.
How Partnership Takes Shape

Built With Your School.

Thrive is implemented in partnership with the people who know students and the school environment best. KTH Learning brings the intervention structure, Mentor/Coach model, curriculum, progress-monitoring process, and implementation support. The school brings site knowledge, referral insight, existing systems, and the context needed to make the model work well on campus.

Shared goals.
Clear communication.
Coordinated support.
01

Assess Site Priorities

Meet with school leadership and designated student-support personnel to understand student needs, referral processes, schedules, existing interventions, and areas where added support can have the greatest impact.

02

Identify Students & Supports

Work with teachers, administrators, counselors, COST/Care Teams, or other designated staff to identify students who may benefit from Tier 2, Tier 3, or a combination of both.

03

Establish Baselines & Goals

Use referral information, student reflection, observations, school feedback, baseline measures, and other appropriate indicators to clarify needs and establish measurable areas for growth.

04

Build the Site Service Plan

Create a predictable schedule and determine the appropriate balance of small-group and individualized intervention based on site priorities, student needs, and service capacity.

05

Align the Student Support Team

Communicate goals, intervention priorities, and relevant strategies with appropriate adults supporting the student—including teachers, administrators, student-support staff, and families when applicable—so expectations and reinforcement stay aligned.

06

Deliver & Monitor Support

Mentor/Coaches provide scheduled Tier 2 and Tier 3 services while documenting participation, observations, goal progress, student reflection, and relevant school-team feedback.

07

Review, Adjust & Plan Next Steps

At established intervention checkpoints, KTH and appropriate school partners review progress and determine whether support should conclude, continue, adjust, intensify, transition, or move toward a new goal.

Measuring What Matters

Support You Can See. Progress You Can Measure.

Thrive uses multiple sources of information to understand student growth and guide decisions about what should happen next.

01

Baseline

Clarify student need, starting indicators, and targeted areas for growth.

02

Intervention

Provide scheduled Tier 2 and/or Tier 3 support using approved Thrive practices.

03

Monitor

Document participation, observations, student reflection, goal progress, and relevant feedback.

04

Review

Examine progress at formal intervention checkpoints using multiple measures.

05

Adjust

Continue, transition, intensify, conclude, or revise support based on collaborative review.

80%+Program goal: participating Tier 2 students demonstrate measurable growth across targeted SEL competencies.
80%+Program goal: participating Tier 3 students demonstrate measurable improvement in identified behavioral goal areas.

These are program-level outcome goals, not automatic individual exit thresholds or guaranteed outcomes for every student.

Growth Gets Recognized. Thrive intentionally reinforces effort, skill development, positive replacement behaviors, participation, and progress toward student goals—helping students notice and build on their own growth.
